Subject: Cam Failure
Hi...I am currently going thru the gut-wrenching ordeal with the cams on my
98 SHO failing! I was referred to you by a Ford mechanic, who knew what was
wrong with my car before I finished explaining the symptoms. I bought the car in
Dec of '04 with 59k miles. I drove it from Kentucky to Maine in the spring and
all summer long with no problems. I was on my way back to Kentucky in Sept when
the light tapping noise, I'd heard a few days earlier, got louder and 200 miles
later as I was in Rhode Island, the car lost power and died. It just turned 76k
miles. I had it towed to a nearby Ford dealer in RI where he gave me the bad
news and a $6,700 estimate. They claimed it was a "freak" thing. I had the car
towed back to Maine for a second opinion. It was only then, thru my friend at my
local Ford dealer, did I hear about the epidemic of this occurrence and your web
site. My info is listed below. I'd appreciate any help in this matter. Thank
you.
