SHO Taurus for an executive of a
local trucking corporation. He purchased this
vehicle in July of 2002 with 42K miles on it and
has owned it ever since. The company he works for
has an automotive service department. I know the
shop foreman quite well and he has assured me that
they maintained this car and kept everything up to
"par". That includes new brakes, rotors, pads,
lines etc., new front end and steering parts when
needed, regular oil and fluid changes, and even a
rebuilt transmission about 2 years ago.
Last week, the engine failed. The mechanic told
me that it probably either
jumped time or broke a camshaft. The bottom
end is good, and the other side of the motor is
good, too. If you disconnect the spark plugs on
the one bank, the motor still runs on 4 cylinders.
You can actually drive the car, though I sure
wouldn't drive it very far.
The engine is a Yamaha assembled 32 valve
Duratec 207ci V8 with an output of 235HP and a
factory rated top speed of 143 mph. So, if you
want a project car that will be loads of fun to
drive when finished... well, here it is.
Paint and finish are still pretty good. (What
you see on it, in the pictures, is snow). Would
really come back with a good buff. There is some
rust around the lower section (see pics) but it is
minimal, and could be taken care of pretty
effortlessly. Overall, the body is good. No dings,
dents, or crinkles.
Sunroof works well and does not leak. Interior
is still good. Leather seats are nice, so is the
headliner, door panels, dash panels, etc. Carpets
are not excessively worn but could stand a good
cleaning. All the trunk needs is a vacuum.
Equipment includes all power options: windows,
door locks, power driver's seat, tilt wheel,
cruise control, A/C, power sunroof, leather seats,
AM-FM Cassette w/ Mach sound system, 4 wheel disc
brakes, factory aluminum mag wheels, dual exhaust.
Miles are 83,678.
