Why Can't I Disconnect the Fuel Lines

new 08/27/2004

I can't seem to figure out how to disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel rail. I've got the special disconnect tools and I've got the manual.

Here's a pic of the "garter spring" locs and the disconnects. What am I doing wrong?

Another thing, the Ford manual lists a 1/2" and 3/8" line. Mine seem to be 1/2" and 5/8". Did anybody else notice this?

If it’s anything like the fuel filter on my Exploder, you have to push the lines together while pushing in the tool (thanks Kirk!).

Like Paul said, you need to slide them together, that releases the spring and slides it over the tool and lets you pull them apart.

I got it figured out. The lip of the ring was too thick and wasn't fitting in properly.

Thanks all who replied.
