Water Pump Belt

04/16/2009

Hi Folks,
Anyone ever replace that little known critical item? Mine failed at 133K miles. Drove a few miles before I noticed Temp gauge pegged!
I hope the best part of the SHO is still healthy!

Yeah. once, or 87 times, I can't remember...

There is a round standoff that has a long bolt through it which must
be removed. I think it is a 12 mm hex head.
Push down on the little tensioner and remove the belt from the
pulleys. You'll find the standoff real quick. Trace towards the
driver's fender and you'll see the bolt head under there, behind the
battery.
Unscrew the bolt, holding the standoff so it won't fall, and slide
back the bolt enough to get the standoff out. Then swap in the new
belt and reverse the procedure. Shouldn't take more than 5 minutes.
