Thank You To This List And John Stoessel

New 12/14/2004

I just wanted to say thank you so very much to the people on this list who offered me help when I desperately wrote to you guys a couple weeks ago. I also want to thank with all of my heart, a man named John Stoessel who I found through this list... he helped me when I was at the end of my rope and has made it so I fell in love with my car again. It runs better now than it did when I first purchased it and it cost me a tiny, tiny fraction of the $900+ that the Ford dealership quoted me to fix my car.

I really have to say that I am touched how the people on this list seem like an "extended family". From all the kind responses I got to my email... to the email from the man Carter who almost died from a stroke... to all the wonderful responses that you all sent him. You guys are really great people.

I wanted to say why I am so very grateful for the help from John and the responses from this list.. This past June my 13 year old daughter was hit by a car while walking in a crosswalk when some idiot in his father's mercedes was talking on the cell phone and didn't see all the other cars stopped and plowed into my daughter. She had to be airlifted to Children's hospital in Los Angeles and had a fractured skull and her brain was bleeding in 3 places. Also, from the impact of the accident her heart was damaged and she basically had a heart attack from the force of the impact. She was in intensive care for quite a while and we didn't think she was going to make it... Thank God she is recovering now and I still have my daughter. But I now spend most of my time taking her to various physical therapy and doctors appointments daily and cannot be without a car to drive her to her appointments with. When I purchased my SHO last November I was told by the salesman it was an extremely reliable car and perfect for a single mom and I wouldn't have any problems at all. Since then, I have had 2 transmissions put in it and it has been in the shop 6 times for over 40 days. The last time it was in the shop Ford quoted me at least $900 to fix it (#3 ignition coil was bad) and I was devastated. I just didn't have the money to fix it and was even considering bankruptcy and turning the car back in to the dealership ...that is when I contacted your list.. and got so many helpful responses, especially from John. He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful and basically saved our family, I did not have the $900 to fix my SHO and needed it so that I could take my daughter to all of her appointments. John went above and beyond ordinary human kindness to fix my car as soon as he possibly could and for as inexpensively as he could. I have been planning on trading in my SHO because I am just not capable of taking care of it and putting the money into it that it deserves.. now that John has fixed it and I am driving it again, I am just IN LOVE with it and don't want to have to trade it in... I can see now why all of you love your cars so very much.

Anyway... just wanted to say that all of this has restored my faith in humanity, and makes me feel so good that there are such wonderful people out there in the world!
