Superchips for V8 SHO

new 4/10/02

Hi,
I was wondering why I never see anybody with high performance computer chips installed on their SHO's. Is there a reason for this?

Just Wondering..

During the last 6 years, I think about 6-7 guys have worked with super chips experts - including Level 10 - and were promised all kinds of HP. Each go round Superchips creates fewer huge problems - like the car not starting.

In 6-7 serious attempts (long term projects) the chips never made HP and ALWAYS introduced problems, like engine ping, poor MPG, random no-start and hosed OE computer.

If you are going to run a blower or 200+ HP NOS you MUST have a chip, otherwise run the other way.

Superchips and Jetchips totally "(deleted by editor)". I have had very bad experiences with both companies. After 3 attempts, superchips was never able to get the program right for my old 97 Taurus with the Duratec before I had my 99 SHO. First time, the engine wouldn't start. Sent it back for a reburn, and then it ran incredibly rich that my bumper started turning black above the mufflers. Sent it back, then my engine started pinging really bad and that's when I gave up on it. The engine was doing such bad detonation while climbing a hill in I70 through PA that I pulled off the highway, and when the chip was removed, the pinging stopped and everything ran normal again. Unless you get radical, the factory program is the best program IMHO.

They advertise satisfaction guaranteed, you got your $$ back?

Unless it is as I have been told, You WILL be satisfied because you will never see you $$ again.

Please tell us,

Tim

Tim, after a bit of arguing, they finally agreed to refund me and I got all of my money back. Now, Jetchips was a different story. I had to threaten legal action on Jetchips to get them to refund my money. It took Jetchips 3 attempts and my car was still running terrible. I went from running extremely rich, to getting lots of pinging, to getting ultra harsh transmission shifts. After 3 attempts, I demanded my money back and they said they wouldn't give me my money back. After I wrote an article and had it posted in many peak message boards, along with the local paper, Jetchips finally agreed to refund me. I will stay away from chips at all costs, even on this Lightning that I’m about to buy. It's just not worth risking, although I have heard good things about chips on the Lightning. Apparently, a chip and intake are yielding at least 40+ hp on these things........
