Dear Ron, I happen to be at Lapeer Dragway on Saturday. I was driving my 1997 Black SHO, but not testing it. I was there with my brother who was testing his 2003 Blue Mustang Mach1. I've owned my SHO for around 3 years now, and had no idea there was SHO Clubs like this. Do you guys meet often? How many times a year do you meet at the track? I would love information. Thanks, Tim

Hi Tim,

CC: V8 List (see Tim's original email below)

We thought we saw a black Gen 3 with MI plates driving out, and we weren't sure who it was!!

We weren't out as a specific SHO club, it was a combination of SHO Club folks and TCCA (Taurus Car Club) folks. It was mostly comprised of people on the Internet mailing lists and Forums.

A bunch of us in the area used to hit Lapeer a few times each season, but this past year, we just went twice. TCCA sponsored one back in May, and then I put together this one. Since we just go out for times, we avoid the May 15th - September 15th period, as it's too warm out.

The main two sites for the Gen 3 V8 SHO are:

The V8 SHO mailing list, which you can join at: www.v8sho.com Just go down to the section about the Mailing List.

The SHO Forum also has a V8 SHO section, plus a lot of other info: www.shoforum.com

I am also on SHOtimes, which is the oldest mailing list, and is mostly Gen 1&2 V6 cars. You can subscribe here: http://www.team.net/mailman/listinfo/shotimes

There is also www.shotimes.com, which is the main SHOtimes FAQ.

Also, most of us are members of the SHO Club, and we have an annual Convention where we usually do a road course and a dragstrip: www.shoclub.com

There is also the TTCA Forum, which is mostly regular Tauruses, and tends to be a younger group. They also have a Forum on their site: http://www.tauruscarclub.com/

There also are a couple of smaller local clubs in the western MI and northern OH areas, and there are SHO folks getting together to do something every couple of months. Some of the guys at Lapeer on Saturday were at a dyno in Lansing earlier in the day.

I am one of the original SHO folks. I bought a new '89 that I owned for 10 years, I then had a new '99 (that was the first V8 SHO in the 14s.....and it was at Lapeer). I then wanted back into a 5-speed car, so I had a '95 for a while, now I have a '94 with bolt-ons and suspension mods. It has a dying clutch, so I took my 911 out to Lapeer the other day for a few runs. I have been to 9 of the 11 SHO Conventions over the years, and also plan on attending the 2004 Convention near San Francisco next July.

I had spoken to the gentleman with the Mach 1, and he told me about his brother's SHO. He asked a bunch of questions about the cams and all, and I gave him the V8SHO web address for info on welding the cams (he's a fabricator and plans on TIG welding them himself), and all the other useful info on here. He was a great guy, and was surprised to see that SHO and SLO owners came from all over to congregate.

Glad to see that someone else was informed of the site!
