Ron Hogan - Cam Failure #262

new 5/22/03

Hi,

I just wanted to let you know about a situation I had with a Ford dealership regarding my 1998 SHO in Mint condition. I am the third owner but this car was babied and doesn’t even have a scratch on it. Everything is absolutely perfect except this: I dropped the car off yesterday with a tapping noise coming from the right head on the end of the head where the chain attaches to the cam. The dealership just called me to explain the problem. Apparently it is exactly the one which your website describes. The camshaft gear is loose and can break off any moment. They expect a repair estimate of 3,000$. One thing I might note is that the original part number that was issued is no longer the same. The part has been corrected to resolve this problem but obviously this doesn’t help people unless they actually have the problem. I just wanted to know if there is anything I can do to help with the Lawsuit against Ford regarding this issue.

Thank you for your time,

Ron Hogan
