My local Ford Dealer, Roland Rich Ford, has a 1997 SHO they bought from an auction with a bad engine. i guess the camshaft sprocket can be turned by hand, and they have rebuilt the engine, from what I'm told. I will try and get some more info for you later this week.

I guess they bought a new camshaft and they already have the engine in it. I do not believe that the cams were welded, and the new one would be the "new" part from ford.
